TNA December
2004 Meeting
1.
Police report.
- One robbery/burglary in progress reported. (4pm - 20th &
Harrison on 27th November). One theft reported. No other
incidents.
- Recommendation: during the holidays, don’t keep anything valuable in
your car (including change, clothes). Disable quick release for trunk,
if possible.
2.
City Council, Norman Griffiths.
- Upcoming bond bill consuming a lot of effort. 8 items on Finance committee
meeting today. For example, grants with matching funds from capital budget.
Some reluctance to approve due to not wanting to earmark funds in advance.
- Post office will leave Wilmington Trust building September 2005. Looking
at new construction site – Senator Carper has gotten involved in issue –
considering old New Journal site. Looking for input from public on potential
sites.
- Ted Blunt has announced new committee assignments in City Council, Norman
will chair Finance and Economic Development Committees – Bud Freel has both
L&I and Health, Aging and Disabilities committees.
- Sewer system is antiquated. Problem goes beyond CSO issue. Trying to
raise funds for storm water management – to contribute to sewer water costs.
Won’t effect residential users, mainly commercial users and sites.
- Biggest ticket item on bond bill is to move public works yard. Goal is
to move away from Riverfront area – interim site on Terminal Ave, permanent
site on New Castle Ave. Some money will come from State for right of way
access.
- If have problem with outrageous water bills after new meters are installed,
call Norman Griffiths, 655-8084. He can help resolve in this particular
case.
